2007 Kindergarten Readiness Conference Speakers

On November 16th and 17th the Alabama State University Head Start project held its 2007 Kindergarten Readiness Conference at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center in Auburn, Alabama.  There were over 150 attendees at the conference. The conference focused on the Kindergarten Readiness expectations of various groups (e.g. Head Start Directors, Principals, and teachers) who help shape our children’s learning. The conference also promoted positive dialogue among these groups in an effort to equip participants with information that is needed to assist preschoolers in successfully transitioning into kindergarten.

Dr. Joe Lee, President of Alabama State University, was the keynote speaker and he was joined by the following Panel Speakers:  Dr. Huey-Ling Lin, ASU Associate Professor & Head Start Project Director;  Dr. Jeff Gorrell , External Evaluator; Cindi Townley, Education Administrator for Federal Programs; Linda Hampton, Director of the Head Start Collaboration Project;  and Debbie Youhouse, Program Analyst, Educational Services.
